Talalla House

Located on the golden sands of Talalla Beach on Sri Lanka’s southeast coast, Talalla House is a unique and secluded beachfront villa. Offering an intimate retreat for groups of up to 14 guests, it’s perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding region with leopard safaris in Yala National Park, the UNESCO Heritage Galle Fort and Handunugoda Tea Estate being just some of the outstanding locations and activities on its doorstep.

The main villa comprises of five double en suite rooms with double beds set over two floors, all with sliding glass doors opening on to either the pool deck or private balconies and expansive sea views. For added privacy for couples or older children, two suites with double beds are set in the extensive tropical gardens to overlook the ocean and offer the perfect escape. 

Personal chef, Anthony, prepares authentic local dishes, Western cuisine, and wood-fire BBQs using fresh, healthy produce. Meals are served in the teak wood indoor-outdoor living area overlooking the villa’s infinity pool. 

An expansive second-floor covered veranda can double as a yoga studio or Ayurvedic wellness area with classes and spa treatments organized by the villa concierge. The piece-de-resistance has got to be the stunning rooftop garden and bar with their uninterrupted sea views, ideal for sunbathing and whale-spotting by day and cocktails and spectacular Sri-Lankan sunsets by night. 

Suited to family groups of all ages, kids are well catered for outdoor space, a pool with toys, indoor activities, and specially prepared kids’ meals.

Guests can expect superlative yet discreet service from the villa’s team of six full-time staff including housekeeper, concierge, and 24/7 security for extra peace of mind.

Out & About

• Head to Hirikitiya beach, about 20 minutes away near the town of Nilwela. The perfect place for a day trip, you can swim, surf, or just have a paddle
  
• Visit the blowhole at Dikwella. Go on a fine, clear day and watch as a fountain of seawater shoots through the opening in the rock creating a natural fountain
• Nestled an hour’s drive away among a lush green forest are the peaceful rock temples of Mulkirigala. Clamber up the 500 or so steps to the seven cleft-like caves housed with large reclining Buddha statues and smaller figures
