Sisindu C

Set on a beautiful sandy stretch of beach in Habaraduwa on the island’s palm-pocked southern coast, Sisindu C’s beauty is in its simplicity. Consisting of little more than a spacious open plan ground floor with full kitchen and lounge leading out to a wide dining veranda, and two identical upstairs bedrooms, it’s the ultimate easy escape only two and a half hours from Colombo International Airport.

Sisindu C is immensely stylish. The huge ground floor lounge teems with cushion-plumped built-in sofas, huddled bedside tables topped with books and magazines. On the threshold of the garden lies a mesmerizing swimming pool flanked by loungers and cushy floor cushions. Between the pool and the beach is a lush green lawn topped by a west-facing sunset pavilion.

The villa’s two spacious bedrooms are reached via a back staircase that leads to an upper balcony furnished with loungers for views of the garden, beach, and sea. Each bedroom features a four-poster king-size bed, mosaic-embossed side tables, cupboards, and built-in sofas topped with cushions. They are air-conditioned, and also come with ceiling fans. Bathrooms feature twin sinks, rain showers, and textured driftwood mirrors.

Sisindu C is fully staffed with a cleaner, night watchman, and experienced chef (it’s also home to a pair of very friendly dogs, but they can be rehoused during your stay). The friendly owners of the villa often pop in and say hello, but otherwise leave you to your own devices. The villa’s location is excellent; the beach beyond the villa is wide and long, so it’s perfect for a morning or evening stroll.
